Mischke, a local AM talk radio host, gave a wonderful monologue this afternoon on how Obama’s historic moment last night is a real inspiration. I couldn’t agree more. Worth a listen.

I’m looking forward to reading this Vanity Fair article chronicling the birth of the Internet from the people that were there.

Another good read on the beginning of the Internet is Where Wizards Stay Up Late

I’m watching Barack Obama give his speech on TV. He’s a few miles away in St. Paul in front of a enthusiastic crowd. He’s thanking Hillary, with so much more class than she showed in NOT conceding the race. Now he’s on to the general campaign and addressing John McCain.

“What you won’t see from this campaign or this party is using religion as a wedge or patriotism as a bludgeon.”  Now that’s change I support!

McCain is campaigning for Republicans to keep control of the White House. Obama is campaigning for the Presidency of the United States of America.

Go Obama!

The Belmont Stakes race is this weekend and Big Brown is poised to be the first horse to win the Triple Crown in thirty years. Watch this incredible video from the Preakness, where the jockey holds the horse back the entire race and then lets him go. It looks like Big Brown was on a sling shot. These horses are amazing athletes and Big Brown is of the the best ever.

And here is the same overhead view from Big Brown’s Kentucky Derby win

This is a fascinating image showing all the streets in the lower 48 United States in one image. It shows only streets, no other information. Yet you can discern mountains and cities and other topographical information because the streets flow around the geography.

I recently switched mobile phones to a Blackberry 8830 after using a long line of Windows Mobile-based smartphones. I’m so glad I switched. The Windows based phones lacked two essential qualities. First, they were never great phones. The Blackberry operates flawlessly to make calls, and it sounds good. It may be too much to ask, but my phone should work when I need to make calls. Second, the Blackberry’s software is solid. With the Windows phones, I was constantly messing with the thing just to keep it working. It was a pain, one that is even more evident now that I have a mobile device that works well.

So, I’m a happy Blackberry user with Sprint’s fast 3G network. For now.

The Apple iPhone is so intriguing. With a 3G version seemingly around the corner, I find myself thinking about that glorious screen, the amazing multi-touch interface, the fantasic support for Google applications. I’m not keen on having to use AT&T, but you can’t have it all.

The one on the left says the one on the right did it. Our 32″ HDTV is dead.

We put some new pictures on our Flickr site, check them out.

Barak Obama gave an important speech today on race, partially in reaction to recent criticism of remarks made by his pastor. But the speech was more than an answer to critics. I have a feeling he had this speech in the works for a long time and was waiting for the right situation in the campaign when the race card was being played. It is a powerful speech. Many commentators are saying it is a great speech, even a historic speech. Time will tell. His campaign, even if he doesn’t win, and I hope he does, is doing this country a great service.

Obama is a gifted orator. His skills are abundant, especially in comparison to our current President. I wonder if Hillary is planning a gender speech? The thought of HRC trying to match Obama gives me the creeps — there is no way she could pull it off. He is in a class by himself.
