On June 26, 2012, after a few months of feeling poor, then a battery of tests, I was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Lymphoma is a blood cancer, more specifically a cancer of lymphocytes, which are white blood cells. There are 61 or more types of non-Hodgkin lymphoma. I have the most common type, diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL).
I started chemotherapy on July 3rd, 2012. My chemo regimin is called R-CHOP and is known to be effective for my type of lymphoma. I will likely follow my 6 cycles of chemotherapy with radiation therapy.
To say the least this is a journey I never expected to take. I have already learned a lot about myself, my amazing family and supportive friends. I fully expect to be cured, but the road ahead is going to be challenging.
I have setup a CaringBridge site to update my friends and family on my progress.
Cancer sucks, but I’m going to beat it. [Update: I did]
